Lyrics

*New Mexico Blues*

**Intro:**
Slow guitar bend with reverb, like wind across the high desert
Harmonica wails in the distance

**Verse 1:**
Rolling into Albuquerque when the sun goes down
Neon signs are flickering all across this town
Route 66 runs through my restless soul
Been drifting so long, I forgot where I'm supposed to go

**Verse 2:**
The Sandia Mountains turning purple in the fading light
I'm searching for redemption in another lonely night
Met a woman at the crossroads, she said "Boy, what's your name?"
I said "I'm just a drifter playing the blues man's game"

**Chorus:**
Albuquerque drifter, nowhere left to hide
The desert knows my secrets, seen me break down and cry
These New Mexico nights are colder than they seem
I'm an Albuquerque drifter, still chasing broken dreams

**Verse 3:**
The Rio Grande is running low, just like my luck
Got my guitar in the back of this beat-up truck
The cottonwoods are whispering what I already know
Sometimes you gotta lose it all before you let it go

**Verse 4:**
Old Town plaza where the mariachis play
I'm nursing tequila, trying to wash yesterday away
The chile's burning hot but my heart's burning more
For a life I left behind on some distant shore

**Chorus:**
Albuquerque drifter, nowhere left to hide
The desert knows my secrets, seen me break down and cry
These New Mexico nights are colder than they seem
I'm an Albuquerque drifter, still chasing broken dreams

**Solo:**
Blistering guitar solo with heavy vibrato
Notes crying out like a coyote at midnight
Building intensity, then dropping to a whisper

**Bridge:**
Maybe tomorrow I'll head down to Santa Rosa way
Or maybe I'll just stay here for another day
The road keeps calling but I'm tired of running free
This desert drifter's finally found where he's meant to be

**Final Chorus:**
Albuquerque drifter, I'm laying my burden down
Found my peace in the desert dust of this railroad town
These New Mexico nights don't seem so cold anymore
This Albuquerque drifter ain't drifting anymore

**Outro:**
Guitar fades like dust settling after a storm
Final harmonica note echoes into the night
